2025 Chevy Trailblazer vs. Chevy Trax SUV Comparison

If you’re looking for the best small SUV, you’re in luck. Chevrolet has two great options that are both available at starting MSRPs of under $25,000. These two SUVs are the 2025 Chevy Trailblazer and the 2025 Chevy Trax.

Both are reliable 5-passenger SUVs that can get you where you need to go, but they have their similarities and their differences. Let’s compare what these two SUVs have to offer so you can determine which one is right for you.

Comparing the Trailblazer and Trax: An Overview

Power & Performance

While they’re both small SUVs, the Trailblazer and Trax have different engine, transmission, and powertrain offerings.

The Trailblazer has an ECOTEC 1.3L Turbo engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). That’s because the Trailblazer is designed to take on backroads and tough terrain in addition to paved roads if you want it to. Because of this, the Trailblazer also has available towing capabilities, and its ACTIV trim has an available skid plate that helps protect the underbody during tough mudding.

Meanwhile, the Trax has a slightly smaller ECOTEC 1.2L Turbo engine, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and Front Wheel Drive (FWD). These features are more at home on paved roads and highways than on dirt and gravel roads. Still, it gets a combined 30 MPG, so it can take you where you need to go efficiently, whether that’s across town or across the country.

Interior Design & Technology Features

Both the Trailblazer and the Trax have lots of interesting interior design and technology features, but whether they’re available or standard varies between trim levels. For example, the Remote Start feature is available on the Trailblazer LS trim (which is the lowest-level trim), while it’s standard on all the other, higher Trailblazer trims. Similarly, the Trax LS has a standard 4-speaker audio system, while the higher trim levels have a standard 6-speaker audio system. It’s best to look up the specs on these vehicles and determine whether the Trax’s features or the Trailblazer’s features fit you best, and which trim levels you prefer.

Interior Dimensions

The Trailblazer and Trax have similar interior dimensions, but their small differences matter. The Trax has 98.00 cubic feet of passenger volume, while the Trailblazer has 98.20 cubic feet of passenger volume. It’s just a fifth of a foot of difference, but you may need that extra fifth of a foot if you want a roomier small SUV. Here’s how some of these SUVs’ other major dimensions break down (Chevy Trailblazer/Chevy Trax):

  • Front Head Room: 39.98 in./39.60 in.
  • Second Head Room: 38.40 in./38.10 in.
  • Front Leg Room: 40.90 in./41.90 in.
  • Second Leg Room: 39.00 in./38.70 in.
  • Cargo Volume to Seat 1: 54.40 cubic feet/54.10 cubic feet
  • Cargo Volume to Seat 2: 25.30 cubic feet/25.60 cubic feet

The Trailblazer has larger interior dimensions overall, but the Trax has more front leg room and cargo volume to seat two. While the size differences aren’t huge, they’re important to consider as you decide between these two SUVs. After all, those small differences in dimensions could impact how you configure your passengers and cargo in your SUV.

Safety

Both the Trax and the Trailblazer have many of the same standard and available safety features. For instance, both vehicles have a standard HD Rear Vision Camera and standard safety features like the Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and a Teen Driver setting. These SUVs’ available safety features include Rear Park Assist and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. Each vehicle has tons of standard safety features to protect you while you drive, so they’re pretty even in this regard.

Price

Of course, when you purchase a new SUV, price does matter. Luckily, the price ranges for both the Chevy Trailblazer and the Chevy Trax are quite reasonable.

The Trailblazer’s trims have a starting MSRPs ranging from $23,100 to $27,700. Meanwhile, the Trax trims have a starting MSRPs with a similar range that starts at $20,500 and ends at $24,500. The Trax’s price range is lower overall, but both vehicles’ price points have a range of a little over $4,000 between trim levels, so they’re about the same. Remember that the Trax doesn’t have the off-roading capabilities that the Trailblazer does, which may account for some of the differences in pricing.
