Now that we’ve had some time with it, we figured we’d take the opportunity to highlight the Traverse Z71, which debuted for the very first time this year.

What’s Included in the 2024 Chevy Traverse Z71 Package?
The Z71 package is a legendary Chevy standby that’s geared for rugged utility and off-road performance. Its badge has graced the grilles of Silverados, Colorados, and Tahoes for many years now, and the fact that it’s now available in the Traverse makes for one of the best SUVs for families who like to camp and get out in nature while still having a comfortable, city-friendly daily driver.
The Traverse Z71 can be instantly recognized by its exterior features, which provide oodles of trail-ready functionality. The front fascia and bumper have a tougher look, and it’s raised for a greater approach angle. The bumper also features stylish red recovery hooks for on-trail aid and an aluminum skid plate underneath. Roof rails are standard issue, and the Z71 is the only Traverse trim that can be optioned with the Harvest Bronze Metallic paint color.
An inch of extra ground clearance is included in the Z71 compared to other Traverse models, and track width is slightly elongated for improved stability. It gets 18-inch all-terrain blackwall tires and a slick set of high gloss machined aluminum wheels as part of the package as well.
Suspension is bolstered by specialized dampers with hydraulic rebound control for a smoother ride on uneven surfaces. It also has twin-clutch all-wheel drive as standard, along with hill descent control and a trim-specific Terrain Mode added to the other drive modes.
Trailering in the Z71 is assisted by the Trailering Package, which unlocks the Traverse’s max towing weight of 5,000 pounds.
Finally, iconic Z71 badging can be found on the front grille and stitched into the Jet Black Evotex seating.
Other 2024 Chevy Traverse Features
Apart from all the killer extras included in the Z71 package, third-generation Traverse owners will enjoy a wealth of amenities and improvements over previous models.
The V6 engine of yesteryear has been replaced by an efficient 2.5-liter, which cranks out 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This motor provides plenty of oomph to get the Traverse Z71 well off the beaten path.
The Traverse has grown significantly, making it one of the most spacious midsize SUVs with three rows. It’s able to seat 7 comfortably (8 in the LS and LT with bench seats) and the third row has ample room for full-sized adults.

With nearly a hundred cubic feet of total cargo room and fold-flat seating, the interior is endlessly versatile and able to handle road trips, camping sessions, weekend grocery missions, moving, and more.
Infotainment has been hugely upgraded. Regardless of trim, all Traverse models get an 11-inch digital driver information display and an absolutely massive 17.7-inch LCD display, which features Google built-in technology to effortlessly integrate your smart devices with your vehicle and enables hands-free voice commands through Google Assistant.
Other standard tech equipment in all models includes front and rear USB ports, SiriusXM capability, OnStar and Chevy Connected Services capability, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The Z71 trim also throws in a few extra perks, including wireless phone charging. The premium Bose 10-speaker audio system can also be optioned in the Z71.
