The folks in Detroit have been busy indeed. In the last two years, we’ve seen either a refresh or a complete ground-up redesign of every Chevy SUV on the market, with the forthcoming ’25 Equinox being the latest. But is it the greatest? As the brand’s best-selling SUV, we’re inclined to think it just might be.
There’s a lot to cover, so we won’t waste any time. Here’s the lowdown on the all-new Chevy Equinox.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox Trims
For the new generation, the list of available Equinox trims has been significantly altered. Currently, three are slated to be available when it releases:
- Equinox LT
- Equinox RS
- Equinox ACTIV
At this point, it’s unclear whether or not we’ll see the LS or Premier trims—or the Midnight and Redline special editions for that matter—at a later date.
This also marks the first time we’re getting an ACTIV trim for the Equinox. Previously, the trim was only available for the Trailblazer, and we expect it to pop up in future models as well. The ACTIV trim is characterized by a retuned suspension, A/T tires, and accentuated bodylines to impart a more rugged, off-road look, with trim-specific interior and exterior highlights.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox Interior and Tech

In keeping with Chevy’s recent mandate of providing more competitive technology and comfort amenities without the hyperinflated price tag, one of the biggest changes in the all-new Equinox is its cabin feel.
The interior dimensions for the 2025 Equinox remain very similar to the outgoing model, but the dashboard is pulled forward, allowing for more leg room and improved sightlines. the design engineers at Chevy have also been hard at work tweaking specific angles to provide more cubby storage.
Past-gen Equinox owners will notice the upgraded infotainment immediately. The center stack has an 11.3-inch customizable touchscreen display, which features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google built-in capability for improved app interfacing and voice commands through the Google Assistant. It’s paired with an 11-inch digital driver information cluster, and ample tactile buttons below the center screen and on the steering wheel. Dual USB ports also come standard, and wireless device charging is available as well.
In addition to the improvements in tech and connectivity, the new Equinox has even more standard safety and driver assistance features than before:
- Chevy Safety Assist
(Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam headlight assist)
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Side Bicyclist Alert
- Rear Vision Camera
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Rear Park Assist
- Rear Seat Reminder
- Teen Driver Technology
On top of all the features offered across all trims, extra available ADAS includes an HD surround Vision Camera, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Speed Limit Assist.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox Exterior Design
The Equinox ACTIV trim isn’t the only model that gets its own unique body molding—the LT and RS versions have their own different fascia and wheel variants too.
The general frame and body design employs a significantly wider stance, with a less tapered roofline that’s complemented by a rear shark fin that echoes the new Traverse. The wheel wells are squared-off to further bolster the athletic appearance.
Perhaps the most striking visual difference, though, is the addition of optional two-tone roof colors; white for the Equinox ACTIV, and black for the Equinox RS.
Available colors for the 2025 Equinox include Radiant Red Tintcoat, Lakeshore Blue Metallic, Reef Metallic, Cacti Green, Sterling Gray Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Mosaic Black Metallic, and Summit White.
2025 Chevrolet Equinox Power and Specs
For the new generation, the Equinox carries over its 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, which puts out 175 horsepower. However, the available transmissions have changed in order to boost performance and give them distinct feels—when paired with the standard front-wheel drive, it comes with a CVT, while the available all-wheel drive is paired with an eight-speed. The AWD model also nets the maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
Buyers who spring for the RS and ACTIV trims will also be able to enjoy the brand-new selectable drive modes, which include Normal and Snow, as well as Off-Road in all-wheel models.
